Bob and i were given a chance to travel by train from Roma to Firenze. And yet to another adventure further east of Toscana where we went to see the Leaning Tower of Pisa.
It had been a dream to see this architectural gaffe and wished all my life that it will not fall to the ground until i get to see it. One morning in November, after almost four hours in transit, i beheld before me, the infamous Torre Pendente di Pisa! It is the bell tower of the Cathedral of Santa Maria Maggiore structured in the “Square of Miracles”.
The blunder of erecting the edifice on unstable subsoil is causing the leaning of the bell tower. Yet, this oversight is the reason why this is one of the more famous belfries in the world.
Sunshine added to the beauty of the edifice and the immaculate marble glinted in the light against the azure Tuscan skies brought such warmth in my heart beyond what i expected.
It is truly “a mistake made right” and it is only through God’s amazing love that I am able to experience such a glorious moment!
